Sensei Takeyoshi Ikehara
History
I began my martial arts journey at the age of four under Sensei Akira Yamamoto. At twenty, I was introduced to Jiu Jitsu by Marcelo Behring through a friend, but it wasn't until two years later, towards the end of '92, that I fully immersed myself in the discipline at the academy headed by Master Fábio Gurgel, alongside Sylvio Behring and Ricardo Miller.
In 1993, the Alliance Jiu Jitsu Team was established, and I was already a part of this family.
In '94, I earned my blue belt. By 1997, I had received my purple belt and began assisting Fábio Gurgel in teaching children and teenagers in a project known as Accua.
In 1998, I took on a significant role as a teacher in a project called Meninos do Morumbi, or "Morumbi Boys." By 1999, with Fábio's support, I moved to a small town called Itu, in the countryside of São Paulo, and founded my first affiliate Alliance academy. Concurrently, I started the social project Vitoria, offering free lessons to local youth in Nando's garage, which led to the creation of many black belts who now live off Jiu Jitsu.
In 2000, I was awarded my brown belt, and in 2001, I opened a second Alliance affiliate in Alphaville.
In 2003, I achieved my long-awaited black belt and launched my third Alliance affiliate, Alliance Morumbi. By 2008, I had established my fourth academy, above my wife's bookstore, focusing on a smaller number of students but with high-quality instruction. All the while, I provided Jiu Jitsu lessons at Alliance Morumbi and Gustavo Borges Academy.
In 2009, I partnered with Noel Danforth and moved to Washington, Maryland, USA, where we began a lasting partnership, Alliance Maryland.
In 2013, I made a significant change, closing Alliance Morumbi and other projects to move to America. Before settling there, I received an offer to come to the UAE.
In 2014, I started working with the Arab Military and local Jiu Jitsu clubs, teaching children. Six years on, I gratefully stepped away from the UAE military project and proudly began my work at the first Alliance Jiu Jitsu Team affiliate academy in the Emirates, Alliance Dubai, aiming to teach hundreds of individuals and families, bringing the finest Jiu Jitsu in the world to them.
